Before partnering with Rubicon, our process for tracking trucks was archaic and extremely inefficient. When we started using the route optimization app from Rubicon, our number of missed pickups disappeared almost completely. We are now completely reliant on the app to provide an even better service for our customers. We can go back and see what was serviced and when, and we have completely optimized our routes. If anything is amiss, we’re able to respond immediately. Rubicon has made us an even safer and more reliable choice.

Opportunity: Rubicon has increased our recycling opportunities tremendously. We were initially recycling 20 percent of our materials. Since we began working with Rubicon, that has increased to almost 50 percent.

How do you implement sustainable practices?

We’re committed to reducing our carbon footprint in every aspect of our business. We work every day to set new standards for environmental stewardship, and develop a culture where WCA employees understand and respect the value in environmental protection. We have successfully converted nearly half of our fleet to compressed natural gas vehicles, which produce up to 30% less greenhouse gas emissions and 60-90% less smog-producing pollutants than diesel-fueled vehicles. We own and operate a materials recycling facility waste-to-energy plants, which convert methane gas into energy, at five of our landfills. We want to make an environmental difference by continually improving our operations, policies, and procedures to reflect ecological responsibility, efficient transportation, and disposal service, by helping to protect the environments in which we operate.
