Chief Sustainability Officer
David Rachelson is Rubicon’s Chief Sustainability Officer, spearheading the company’s sustainability efforts focused on achieving the company’s mission to end waste through increased landfill diversion and innovative circular economy solutions. Rachelson’s team oversees calculating and regularly monitoring the waste and recycling related environmental metrics of Rubicon’s customers, engaging with sustainability departments to deliver actionable solutions, and driving company-wide reporting and Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) efforts.
Rachelson represented Rubicon at the 2017 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where the company received the prestigious Circular Economy Digital Disruptor Award. He has authored numerous thought leadership pieces on circular economy, sustainability, and recycling, and has spoken at leading conferences including Ellen MacArthur Foundation CE 100, Sustainable Brands Tokyo, Sustainable Brands New Metrics, Wharton’s Initiative for Global Environmental Leadership (IGEL), and GreenBiz’s VERGE conference.
Prior to joining Rubicon, Rachelson worked as a management consultant with PwC, and was a member of the Corporate Responsibility & Public Affairs department at InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), where he supported the development of IHG’s Green Engage platform that provides hotel operators with tailored and cost-effective sustainability solutions. Earlier in his career, Rachelson worked in a variety of public sector capacities including at the White House Office of Political Affairs and the U.S. Department of State, where he engaged in management and reform efforts at the U.S. Mission to the United Nations.
Rachelson earned an M.B.A. from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School and a B.A. from George Washington University. He is a Term Member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on the Advisory Board of the Ray C. Anderson Center for Sustainable Business at Georgia Tech’s Scheller College of Business.
